A mid-century two-part fede ring dating to around 1950, crafted in 9ct gold and formed from two completely separate rings that interlock when worn together. Each ring carries one sculpted hand, and when combined the hands meet across the front in the traditional clasped-hands design.
The construction is one of the most appealing features of the piece. The two rings can be separated entirely, then brought back together so the hands reconnect at the front. This gives the fede motif a more literal expression of union, with two independent parts becoming one when worn together.
The fede motif has a much older history than the ring itself, with clasped hands traditionally associated with affection, loyalty and betrothal. Here, the two hands meet across the front while the split construction continues around the finger, creating a design that feels both personal and immediately recognisable.
The sculptural hands are finished with engraved cuff detail, while the split construction continues around the finger. Presented in very good vintage condition with light age-related wear consistent with its age.
