A beautiful early Victorian 15ct gold chased intaglio seal, dating to c.1840, and preserved in truly immaculate condition. The finely chased gold mount is rich with detail, framing a glowing amethyst intaglio at the base.
The stone is engraved with the poignant inscription “Tho’ lost to sight, to memory dear”, a deeply sentimental phrase favoured in the Victorian era. When impressed, the seal prints the words in elegant italic script, a quiet testament to the craftsmanship and emotion invested in the piece.
