An outstanding and substantial antique 15ct gold Victorian-era fob seal, crafted with a high degree of quality and symbolism. The piece features a beautifully faceted, clear Citrine gemstone base which is expertly hand-carved with a deep intaglio design.
The intaglio depicts a striking three-masted sailing ship on the waves, a common maritime motif often symbolizing safe passage or hope. Encircling the top of the design is the Latin motto: "DISCE PATI" (meaning "Learn to endure" or "Learn to be patient"). Below the ship are large, stylized initials.
