A truly exceptional piece of antique jewellery - this divine compass pendant is exquisitely crafted in 15ct gold. The circular compass casing features a clear face with cardinal points and its original blue steel needle, which is fully functional.
A key element is the intricate gold frame: the compass is suspended by two elegant sections of twisted gold rope, connecting it to a decorative finial, resembling a nautical theme. The compass is mounted on swivel mechanisms, allowing it to turn freely within its setting.
Crucially, the piece bears its original UK Diamond Registry Mark (or "Lozenge Mark"). This mark was used by the British Patent Office to protect design copyrights only between 1842 and 1883, providing a precise date range for the design's creation and firmly placing this fob in the Victorian Era.
