An unusual antique Victorian fob crafted in 15ct gold, modelled as a seated Greyhound supporting a rotating double-sided seal. The Greyhound is finely modelled with engraved detailing to the body and coat, while the spinner below is framed by an ornate gold border.
One side is set with sardonyx and engraved with a stag above a scroll bearing the Welsh word “UNDEB”, meaning “unity”. The reverse is set with bloodstone and engraved with an elaborate intertwined monogram. Together, the heraldic-style imagery, motto and monogram give the fob a particularly personal character, although its original owner remains unknown.
Dating to around 1890, the fob weighs a substantial 8.8 grams and retains its working rotating action, allowing either engraved stone to be displayed. Presented in very good antique condition with light age-related wear.
