An exceptional antique Victorian scarf clip dating precisely to 1893, crafted in 15ct gold and set with a central ruby flanked by two seed pearls. The broad polished gold front has a wonderfully clean, restrained design, with the gemstones individually set into decorative star-shaped settings.
The central faceted ruby measures approximately 2mm in diameter, equating to an estimated 0.04 carats, while the two pearls provide a soft contrast against the warm 15ct gold. The hinged construction opens to reveal the original pin and strong snap closure, designed to secure the clip firmly to a scarf, cravat or fabric.
Presented in immaculate antique condition, particularly impressive for a piece over 130 years old. The gold retains a superb finish, the gemstones remain securely set and the original snap closure is strong and functions correctly.
