A remarkable antique 15ct gold compass pendant dating to 1899, combining symbolism and craftsmanship in a truly distinctive design. At the centre sits a functioning compass with a rotating mother-of-pearl disc, adding both movement and iridescent beauty to the piece.
At the top of the compass is a detailed snakes head either side, its body flowing around the mount and coiling gracefully up towards the top bale — a powerful Victorian symbol of eternity and protection. The glass front remains in excellent condition, free from chips or scratches, allowing a clear view of the dial.
The reverse is set with a polished bloodstone agate, completing this striking and versatile pendant. Presented in lovely antique condition, this is a rare and highly collectible example of late Victorian jewellery.
