An antique Victorian 15ct gold watch key with finely chased decoration and a detailed intaglio depicting a dove holding a leafy branch in its beak. Beneath the motif is the inscription “AFFERO LEATA”, a stylised motto commonly interpreted as “I bring joy” or “I bring happiness”.
The combination of naturalistic engraving and symbolic wording gives the piece strong decorative and sentimental character.
