A substantial antique Masonic fob crafted in 18ct gold, dating to 1923, featuring the iconic Square and Compasses enclosing the letter 'G' upon a polished bloodstone panel. More than a piece of jewellery, this is an object of identity and achievement, created to commemorate a lifetime of dedication to Freemasonry.
The front is centred with a finely executed gold Masonic emblem mounted over a rich bloodstone tablet, framed by a bold twisted rope border that gives the piece exceptional presence. The fob pivots within its mount, allowing the reverse to be displayed, where a deeply engraved presentation inscription records it being awarded to Superintendent W.M. Davies by the Magistrates of the Newcastle Division upon his retirement after 39 years of service in April 1924.
Bloodstone has long been associated with strength, courage and fidelity, making it a particularly fitting material for Masonic jewellery.
The fob remains in excellent antique condition with light age-related wear consistent with careful preservation. The bloodstone is free from damage, the gold mount retains crisp definition throughout, and the swivel mechanism operates smoothly.
