An extraordinary antique heart ring dating to around 1900, crafted in rich 22ct gold with a silver-set gem cluster and designed around an exceptionally elaborate arrangement of amethyst, pearl and old cut diamonds. The entire 17mm heart-shaped face is constructed as a jewel in two layers, with individually cut amethysts radiating around the outer heart and a smaller diamond-set heart raised dramatically at the centre.
The amethysts have been individually shaped and fitted together to create the larger heart, producing a striking mosaic of vivid violet colour that changes beautifully as the ring moves through the light. Based on the overall 15.5mm x 14.5mm amethyst area, less the 8mm x 7mm central heart, the amethysts are estimated at approximately 2.5 carats in total. At the centre sits a lustrous 4mm pearl surrounded by a halo of old cut diamonds, all set in silver to enhance the brightness and contrast of the stones.
This is a genuinely spectacular piece of antique jewellery, combining the warmth and richness of 22ct gold with the crisp contrast of the silver setting. The heart rises approximately 8mm from the finger, giving the ring wonderful three-dimensional presence, while elegant split shoulders lead into the substantial gold band. Presented in very good antique condition with age-related wear consistent with its age, the gemstones remain securely set and the ring retains exceptional visual impact on the hand.
