An antique 9ct gold brooch dating to the Edwardian era, modelled as a Scottish thistle with a faceted pale amethyst forming the flower head. The gold thistle is finely detailed with a textured body, naturalistic leaves and engraved detailing throughout.
The thistle has been a long-standing emblem of Scotland, making this a particularly distinctive piece of Scottish-inspired antique jewellery. The pale purple amethyst is especially appropriate to the design, echoing the natural colouring traditionally associated with the thistle flower.
Presented in very good antique condition with light age-related wear. The brooch is fitted with its base-metal pin, which functions correctly.
