A distinctive late Victorian book-shaped locket dating to c.1890, with 9ct gold back and front and richly engraved decoration across both covers. The miniature book form gives the piece immediate character, while the deep scrolling and foliate engraving makes each side feel like a tiny decorated cover.
Both faces carry different engraved patterns, giving the locket interest from every angle. Inside, the locket opens like a miniature book and retains its original glass panel to one side, ready to hold a photograph or small keepsake.
Presented in good antique condition with age-related wear consistent with its age. The hinge and closure remain functional, and the surviving original glass is a particularly nice period detail.
