An antique Victorian 9ct gold filled intaglio seal with finely detailed decoration throughout the body, showcasing elegant period craftsmanship and strong visual character.
Set to the base is a chalcedony intaglio engraved with the phrase "GO WHERE I WISH TO BE" — a sentiment as affecting today as when it was cut. At the centre of the stone, a wax-sealed envelope is depicted in fine relief, the two motifs together telling a quietly poignant story of longing and correspondence. The natural, matte finish of the chalcedony sits beautifully against the warm gold mount.
