A 9ct rose gold locket with floral chasing to the front and back, dating to the Edwardian era. The warm tone of the rose gold suits the floral decoration particularly well — the softer colour bringing out the detail of the work in a way that yellow gold does not always achieve.

The back is marked '9ct front & back'. This means the front and back panels are solid 9ct. During the Victorian and Edwardian periods this was designed to help strengthen the locket by incorporating a stronger base metal in the frame.
