A characterful Victorian seal fob dated precisely to 1896, crafted in sterling silver and modelled as a finely detailed dog’s head. The sculptural head is the focus of the piece, with defined eyes, muzzle, ears and individually engraved fur giving the animal a remarkably lifelike expression.
The dog emerges from a silver collar and flared seal mount, finished with scrolling foliate decoration around the base. Set beneath is a circular carnelian intaglio stone measuring approximately 16mm across, its warm red-orange tone providing a strong contrast against the silver. The combination of sculptural animal modelling and a functional seal makes this a particularly appealing Victorian fob.
Presented in very good antique condition with age-related wear consistent with its age. The carnelian remains securely set and with a suspension loop.
