An Edwardian novelty brooch dated to 1906, crafted in 9ct gold and designed as a miniature folding fan with a concealed locket compartment hidden inside. When closed, it appears simply as a finely detailed fan, with engraved ribs and scalloped edges.
Open the fan and the secret compartment is revealed, complete with its original glass and removable insert bezel for holding a small photograph or keepsake. It is this hidden function that makes the piece so appealing, combining a decorative brooch with a discreet personal locket.
Presented in very good antique condition with age-related wear consistent with its age. The fan opens correctly, the glass is present and the removable insert bezel remains intact.
