A finely detailed antique Edwardian locket dating precisely to 1901, crafted in 9ct gold and formed in a distinctive shield shape. The front is densely engraved with trailing ivy leaves surrounding a plain central shield-shaped cartouche, creating a richly decorative surface while leaving a small area available for personal engraving.
The locket opens to reveal two internal compartments, retaining one original glass panel together with one later acrylic panel. The shield form, scrolling foliate engraving and warm gold finish give the piece a strong turn-of-the-century character, while its compact proportions make it particularly wearable as a pendant.
Presented in very good antique condition with light age-related wear consistent with its age. The engraved detail remains crisp, the hinge functions correctly and both internal panels are retained.
