An antique Edwardian locket crafted in sterling silver, with the front finely engraved with scrolling foliate decoration surrounding a central shield-shaped cartouche. A beaded border and further scrollwork frame the design, while the reverse is left largely plain apart from the decorative border and original hallmarks.
The locket opens to reveal its original internal bezel, allowing a photograph or small keepsake to be fitted inside. The original internal glass is no longer present, although the bezel itself remains. Its compact proportions make this a particularly wearable example of an early 20th-century silver locket.
Fully hallmarked for sterling silver at the Chester assay office, with date letter “L” for 1911 and maker's mark “SB”. Presented in good antique condition with age-related surface wear and the aforementioned absence of the internal glass.
