A finely detailed antique Georgian split ring dating to around 1820, crafted in 9ct gold and decorated around its entire circumference with deeply chased foliate and scrolling motifs. Despite its small proportions, the surface is remarkably decorative, with the pattern continuing uninterrupted around the ring.
Split rings such as this were practical fittings within Georgian jewellery, allowing seals, fobs, charms and other small pendants to be attached to a watch chain or necklace. This example retains its original split construction, visible along the edge, while the richly worked decoration gives it considerably more character than a plain connecting ring.
Presented in very good antique condition with light age-related wear and patina. The chased decoration remains crisp and clearly defined throughout, particularly impressive for a piece now around two centuries old.
