A finely made late Victorian keepsake locket dating to c.1900, crafted in 9ct gold and framed by a complete border of seed pearls. The circular double-glass construction keeps the centre open and visible from both sides, while the pearl surround gives the piece a softer, more decorative finish.
The two glass panels can be removed, revealing an internal space measuring 4mm deep. This makes the locket ideal for displaying a photograph, lock of hair, pressed flower, loose gemstones or another small keepsake, with the contents visible through the glass.
At over 7 grams, the locket has a pleasing weight and substantial feel for its size. The pearls remain neatly arranged around the border, the glass panels are clear, and the piece is presented in very good antique condition with age-related wear consistent with its age.
