A characterful Victorian squirrel charm dating to around 1890, modelled in 9ct rolled gold and standing on a circular bloodstone base. The squirrel is shown upright with its paws held forward and its large curled tail rising behind the body.
The modelling is particularly appealing, with textured fur, clearly defined features and good depth despite the miniature scale. The dark green bloodstone base adds a rich contrast beneath the warm gold and gives the piece the feel of a tiny sculptural seal rather than a simple charm.
A lovely novelty piece in very good antique condition, with light age-related wear consistent with its age.
