A particularly well-made Victorian sterling silver locket dating to c.1890, extensively hand engraved across both sides with scrolling foliate decoration. The engraving is unusually detailed, with dense cross-hatched backgrounds creating depth and contrast around the polished leaves and scrollwork.
Both sides carry their own variation of the foliate design, giving the locket interest from every angle. The oval case opens to reveal two internal compartments, each fitted with an acrylic panel for displaying photographs or keepsakes. The quality and density of the engraving make this a particularly strong example of late Victorian silverwork.
Presented in very good antique condition with light age-related wear. The locket opens and closes securely, and both internal acrylic panels are present.
