A distinctive antique Victorian keepsake pendant dating to around 1860, crafted in 15ct gold and centred with a rich red garnet cabochon. The rounded gold body is decorated with applied strap and buckle-style detailing, rope-twist borders and fine beaded accents, giving the piece a particularly characteristic mid-Victorian appearance.
The domed garnet forms a striking focal point, raised within a decorative rope-edged setting. Turn the pendant over and the reverse reveals a removable 17mm glass panel, originally intended to hold a photograph, lock of hair or other personal keepsake. This combination of gemstone and concealed sentimental compartment is closely associated with Victorian jewellery of the period.
Presented in very good antique condition with age-related wear and patina consistent with its age. The garnet remains securely set and the removable glass insert is still present. Dating to approximately c.1860.
