A wonderfully charming early Victorian ring crafted in rich 18ct gold, fully hallmarked for the renowned Scottish provincial maker James Begg of Aberdeen. Dating to c.1837, this piece carries all the character and rarity associated with provincial Scottish jewellery. Its date is established by the hallmark of Aberdeen maker James Begg, who was active only between 1837 and 1844, making his work especially scarce and sought after.
Set to the centre is a single turquoise cabochon, its gentle blue tone beautifully complemented by the warm glow of the high-carat gold. The band is slim and elegant, with crisp, clear hallmarks inside the shank — a delightful feature for collectors of Scottish provincial pieces.
A scarce example from an early date, in lovely antique condition and full of quiet refinement. A beautiful piece of history ready to be worn and treasured.
