A beautifully decorative antique Victorian oval locket dating to around 1880, crafted in 9ct gold back and front and finished with a striking enamel floral design. One side features a finely painted arrangement of flowers including a pink rose, deep blue blossoms and green foliage, all framed by engraved scrollwork around the border.
The reverse is richly engraved with floral and foliate decoration surrounding a plain central cartouche, giving the locket a completely different character on each side. Inside, the locket retains two glass internal panels for photographs or keepsakes, making it as practical as it is decorative.
Presented in very good antique condition with light age-related wear consistent with its age. The enamel remains bright, the engraved decoration is crisp and the hinge functions correctly.
