A richly decorated late Victorian locket dating to c.1880 with 9ct gold back and front and a finely enamelled floral design across the face. A pink rose sits at the centre among green foliage, shamrocks and thistle-like flowers, all tied together with a blue ribbon to create a colourful and highly detailed composition.
The enamel remains bright and beautifully defined, framed by a scalloped border and fine engraved decoration around the edge. The reverse is just as impressive, covered with dense scrolling foliate engraving and finished with a small plain cartouche towards the base.
Inside, the left side retains its original glass and insert, while the right side retains its insert and can still hold a photograph or keepsake. Presented in very good antique condition with no loss of enamel.
