A delightful antique Victorian 9ct yellow gold front and back locket crafted in c.1880 with exceptional forget me not and foliate engraving throughout!
The hand chased decoration is beautifully done throughout the locket. The jump ring is also original with is faceted sides; An exceptional antique!
The locket is unmarked, however the front and back panels are made of 9ct (9ct front and back). This was common during the Victorian and Edwardian periods to help strengthen and keep its structural integrity by incorporating a stronger base metal in the frame.
The locket is complete with the inserts and plastic panels. It is in remarkable condition and the the closure snaps shut.
