An antique Victorian 9ct gold locket dating to circa 1860, set to the front with a polished bloodstone panel. Overlaid is an applied gold cartouche in the form of a shield, left blank and ready for engraving if desired.
The outer edge is finely faceted, catching the light and giving the piece a more defined, structured look. The reverse is neatly chased, adding further detail without overpowering the front.
The locket opens to reveal a glass insert panel, with space for a photograph or keepsake. No bezel inserts are present.
A well-composed piece with a strong central focus, combining the deep tone of the bloodstone with clean gold detailing. There are a few minor dings to the faceted edge, in keeping with age, and not detracting in wear.
Presented in lovely antique condition, with light wear consistent with age.
