A charming antique Victorian seal pendant dating to around 1880, crafted in 9ct gold cased metal and set with a pale chalcedony intaglio. The seal face depicts a rising or setting sun above a low landscape, a motif closely associated with the sentimental message “I will return”.
The body is richly modelled with scrolling and foliate detail, giving the small seal far more presence than its size suggests. Presented in very good antique condition with age-related wear consistent with its age.
