A fine antique Victorian necklace dating to around 1890, crafted in 9ct rolled gold and formed from a continuous series of closely articulated openwork links. The repeating pattern gives the chain considerably more detail than a conventional trace chain while retaining an elegant, slender profile.
Measuring 18 inches in length and just 1.5mm wide, the necklace is particularly well suited to carrying a small antique pendant, locket or charm, while the decorative links also allow it to be worn alone. It retains its original cylindrical barrel clasp, an appealing period feature that complements the construction of the chain.
Presented in very good antique condition with light age-related wear and patina consistent with its age. The links remain sound and flexible throughout, and the original barrel clasp fastens securely.
