A striking antique Victorian sterling silver bookchain collar necklace dating to c.1880. This beautifully made piece is decorated throughout with cut-out star motifs applied to the chain, giving it wonderful texture and visual interest. The stars catch the light beautifully and give the chain a bold yet elegant Victorian character.
The collar measures 43 cm (16.75 inches) in length and connects at the centre with a classic bolt ring clasp. From this hangs an additional drop piece measuring 2.5 cm, finished with a second, smaller bolt clasp beneath, originally intended to suspend a pendant, locket, or charm. With a generous chain width of 11.2 mm, this piece has excellent presence when worn.
