An Art Deco butterfly wing bar brooch dating to around 1930 by Thomas L Mott, crafted in sterling silver and centred with an oval panel of vivid blue butterfly wing. The wing forms a luminous backdrop to a miniature painted tropical scene, with silhouetted palm trees, shoreline detail and a small structure picked out across the surface.
The central oval is framed by a silver border and flanked by stylised floral details, while the long bar is finished with decoration running towards each end. The combination of the iridescent butterfly wing and sharply defined black silhouette gives the brooch a striking depth that changes as the light moves across it.
The reverse is marked for Thomas L Mott and England. Presented in very good vintage condition with light age-related wear consistent with its age, and the pin fitting remains functional.
