An Edwardian crescent moon brooch of notable quality, crafted in 15ct gold and set with old cut sapphires and old cut diamonds. The crescent was one of the defining motifs of the Edwardian period, symbolising growth, renewal, and good fortune. Its elegant curve is accentuated by a carefully graduated arrangement of gemstones, each following the arc of the mount with precision.

The brooch is set with an estimated 1.02 carats of natural sapphires, including a central oval sapphire measuring approximately 4.5 × 3.5 mm, flanked by graduating round sapphires measuring 3.8 mm, 2.6 mm, 2.2 mm, 1.4 mm, and 1.0 mm. Their rich blue colour is complemented by old cut diamonds, whose broad, hand-cut facets provide a gentle brilliance and pleasing contrast between the sapphires.

The graduating arrangement of the stones and the finely executed gold mount reflect the high standard of Edwardian craftsmanship, resulting in a brooch that is both balanced in design and refined in execution.

Very good antique condition with light age-related wear consistent with its age.
