A charming and beautifully detailed antique 18ct gold & silver masonic ball.
This delightful piece is extremely well made as it features 4 individual claws which hold the orb together. Once unpinned, the orb unfolds into a gorgeous cross shape, compromising of 6 pyramids. Each of the pyramids is exquisitely detailed with the very much important masonic symbols.
The inside of the orb is silver gilt, whereas the outside is 18ct gold along with solid 18ct gold claws holding the orb together.
This orb is very well engineered, with no gaps between the pieces once closed. The claws are also very precise and clip firmly into their holes.
 
The pendant is marked at the base for '18ct' with 'PAT. APP. FOR REG'.
It is made in c.1900 and has had very little use.
Very unusual to be made in 18ct.
 
The width is 16mm, and once unfolded, it's length is 43mm, with a width of 33mm.
