A vintage 9ct gold ring set with a large 7ct amethyst, the shoulders pierced and chased, the decorative work running around the back of the band as well as the shoulders, a thoroughness of decoration that speaks to the quality of the piece. Pierced shoulders of this kind require more skill and material than plain ones, and their presence here distinguishes this from standard ring production of the period.
The amethyst is a generous size with good colour throughout.
