A striking vintage solitaire ring dating to the mid-20th century, crafted in rich 20ct gold and set with a substantial round faceted white sapphire. The stone measures approximately 8.9mm across and is held high above the finger in an open claw setting, allowing light to enter from all sides and giving the sapphire a bright, diamond-like appearance.
The white sapphire measures approximately 8.9mm in diameter with a depth of around 5.8mm, giving an estimated weight of approximately 3.2 carats. Its generous proportions dominate the design, while the warm tone of the high-carat gold creates a particularly attractive contrast against the colourless stone. The open gallery and tall claw setting give the ring a strong mid-century presence.
The ring bears Chinese character hallmarks to the inside of the band and may be of Hong Kong origin, although the maker and exact place of manufacture have not been confirmed. Presented in very good vintage condition with light age-related wear consistent with its age.
